ON THE 8th AT 8pm  -  Zoom Presentation

THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE

By DORIS DAVIS

January 8, 2021 8pm

Join us for BCNC first 8th at 8 event, with Doris Davis, President of the Battle of the Bulge Association Golden Gate Chapter, for a presentation on the 1944-45 Battle of the Bulge - aka Bataille de Bastogne.  Doris will share her story on what led to her involvement with the Veterans Association nearly 20 years ago. She’ll give us a brief presentation of The Battle of the Ardennes. But why is it called the “Battle of the Bulge”? What does ’Northern Flank’ and ’Southern Flank’ mean and why are they significant? When did the Battle start and what was its significance in the War? What were Hitler’s intentions as he surprised the Allied troops on Dec 16, 1944?  Doris will invite some of her Veteran friends to share their stories. They were very grateful to come home without physical injuries. They don’t like being called heroes - 'the heroes,' they insist, 'never came home to their parents, wives or children.' She promises a very interesting presentation - one that will be interactive.

Was anyone in your family involved in this battle? What do you remember hearing from your parents and/or grandparents? How did that affect you? If you have a personal testimony you’d like to share, please contact Pierre@bcnc.com or Doris@dordavis.com so we may include it into the presentation.

Called “the greatest American battle of the war” by Winston Churchill, the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes region of Belgium was Adolf Hitler's last major offensive in World War II against the Western Front. Hitler's aim was to split the Allies in their drive toward Germany.

Doris is about the most knowledgeable person to talk about this historic event that happened so close to where we are from. So join us for this unique presentation and the conversation afterwards.
