Dear BCNC Members and Friends: 

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, your Belgian Club of Northern California is inviting you to a sweet “8th at 8” virtual Zoom event: the Making of Chocolate Pralines. Our presenter, BCNC member Trees Martens of Emma’s Delights (emmasdelights.com) handcrafts traditional Belgian chocolates in small batches and makes her own fillings with her customers’ well-being in mind. Trees’ mission is to combine the luxurious decadence of fine chocolates with the purity of healthy ingredients. She will show us the process of making the pralines while you’ll have the chance to savor it simultaneously. 

During this event, you will see the different steps of the fabrication, including the final artistic decoration made live. Trees will speak about 4 specific chocolate pralines...the celebration of romance being just a few days away, all 4 pralines will be of different heart shapes: two will be of dark chocolate (red raspberry ganache & champagne ganache) and the other two of milk chocolate (ganache praliné and caramelized gianduja). 

We wanted to make this event very pleasing. For that reason, we will ship you these 4 heart-shape pralines prior to the event. So when Trees is creating these delicious chocolates, you will be able to enjoy the final products, ask questions, or even comment at the same time. The cost of the event ($30) will include the 4 pralines being shipped to you and the presentation (orders need to be received by January 31st). If you only want to follow the steps in the making of the pralines by Trees, the cost is reduced ($20) (register by Feb 6). Emma’s Delight is only sold online, and all participants of this BCNC8th at 8 virtual Zoom event will benefit from a special discount given during the presentation for a future order.

This Belgian chocolate presentation will be enhanced with a better understanding of chocolate. We asked BCNC Member Richard Callebaut, himself a professional in chocolate manufacturing, to speak first for an Introduction To Chocolate.  Richard will talk about cocoa beans’ origins and describe the variation in flavor based on the country of provenance.  He will also explain the difference between the different types of chocolate.

Register by January 31 to receive the 4 chocolate hearts* prior to the event, and access to the presentations of Trees Martens & Richard Callebaut ($30). * This will also include Notes on “How to Taste Chocolate”, and “How to Pair Chocolate and Wine”.


Register by February 6 for the presentations of Trees Martens and Richard Callebaut ($20).

All participants will receive a discount code for a future purchase at Emma’s Delights. The Zoom link will be emailed the day before the event.
