Developing your career in Silicon Valley
Most activities seem to be oriented towards social events and that is great, however I was wondering if there would be interest in an event about developing your career in the SF Bay Area.
I'd love to get the perspective of people like Willem Roelandts, board of directors of Applied Materials or Marc Vanlerberghe, Director Product Marketing at Google
I heard there is a VC/Serial entrepreneur who recently sold his gaming start up but I am not sure if he is in LA or in Silicon Valley. I am sure there are many more...
I would want to hold the event before the summer.
Any reactions? Anybody in touch with anybody of these guys?
Tim Claes
Dear Tim,
As a Stanford grad close to graduation, I would be really interested in such an event. Eventhough I have very little contacts in the bay area outside the University, I would be happy to help organizing such an event.

hi Tim,
Thanks for posting, and yes, your post is a very valid one.
I know Marc V., but unfortunatey he's very busy right now and cannot commit to give a talk in the near future.
But the following talk might interest you:
Also, you may want to contact the organizer Claudine@checkster.com, I'm sure she'd love to talk to you about organizing similar business oriented events like these.
The Belgian American Chamber of Commerce requests the pleasure of your company to the 1st BelCham event in Silicon Valley:
“Latest Alzheimer Research” by Stef L.E. Heylen, Head of R&D and Chief Medical Officer at Janssen AI.
Janssen Alzheimer Immunotherapy (Janssen AI) is dedicated to developing treatments for Alzheimer's disease, a degenerative brain disease that has no cure. According to the 2009 World Alzheimer's Report, an estimated 35.6 million people worldwide will be living with dementia in 2010 and this number is expected to nearly double every 20 years. Despite this growth and the far reaching human and financial impact of Alzheimer's disease, there are no currently available treatments that fundamentally change the course of this fatal disease.
Stef has a medical degree from the University of Leuven, Belgium, and has 23+ years experience in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, obtained at the Janssen Research Foundation, the research division of Janssen Pharmaceutica in Beerse, Belgium.
